Julie Voris: 5 Life Lessons from Summit

In this episode, I share some more of my takeaways from Summit. As I reflected on my notes, I realized it’s a culmination of the lessons that I’ve learned over the last 20 years. These notes are both reminders and discoveries of what we already know. I share these five lessons in hopes that they will shorten your learning curve and inspire you to work towards your greatest potential.

[03:00] #1 WE’RE NOT ENTITLED TO ANYTHING

We are not entitled to anything and nobody owes us anything. Do your thing because you love it and do it without expectation. I share some of my recent thoughts about expectations and how dangerous they can be. I also talk about some of my prior experiences with Summit and a story about how I won an award in 2018. Though I was recognized with this award, I continued to show up because I love it, without expectations.

[07:23] #2 OUR VIBE IS EVERYTHING

Our vibe is everything and it’s a choice. It is your greatest source of power. Find smart, kind humans who connect with you and challenge you. Seek an elevated community of people who are on fire for life.

[08:52] #3 CHEER FOR OTHERS

Be prepared, be collaborative and be kind. It can be summed up as cheering for others. I share how I was raised with a scarcity mindset as an example. Be aware of what generational baggage you might be carrying. It takes less energy to cheer for others than it does to be judgemental. Not to mention that it’s a lot more fun!

[16:25] #4 NOTHING IS RANDOM

Nothing is random or accidental. Get intentional about putting yourself in the place of most potential. You are a leader and you are here to get better. A way that I put myself in the place of most potential is by sitting at the front row at events I attend. Operate from a place of possibility.

[18:28] #5 DO THE WORK

There’s a lot in this life that we can’t control. But there’s also a lot in this life that we can control. It takes zero talent to show up and do the work. Take responsibility for your life and act accordingly. Showing up is required to change. It’s okay to be grateful for where you’re at and want more for your life.

[21:30] RECAP AND CLOSING THOUGHTS

I recap the five life lessons we talked about in this episode in addition to a bonus, F.Y.T. – Follow Your Truth. What drives you and what lights you up? I think that you are here for a purpose, because you’re on a mission to level up. I hope that you think about these lessons and apply them to your journey. I believe so deeply that you have greatness inside of you.
