In this episode, I am joined by actor, entrepreneur, and wellness professional, Andrew Walker. Andrew takes us on the journey of his life, the chances he took, and the opportunities that made him the person he is today. He shares this story as a message to people looking to go after their own goals as a reminder that hard work can pay off if you are willing to take chances and understand the ups and downs of success.

[3:35] BACKGROUND

Andrew grew up in Montreal with his outdoorsy father and artistic mother. Andrew took after both his parents by participating in sports as well as engaging in the performing arts. After healing from a severe football injury, Andrew set out to audition for acting gigs where he landed his first leading role. After working in the Canadian television industry for a while, he landed a gig in Los Angeles where he received a visa to work in the United States.

[21:55] TRANSITIONS

Here we talk about Andrew’s decision to take a chance and try something new. We talk about how these are generally pivotal moments where life can change. Andrew talks about how transitions can be scary, no matter how big or small, but sometimes you just need to take that leap of faith and go for it.

[44:20] HOME AND BACK AGAIN

After working for a while in Los Angeles, Andrew missed home and decided to go back to his roots to give him some quality time with friends and family. While back in Canada, he started dating and booked a gig with a screenplay. This was a jumpstart to more opportunities that led him and his new wife heading back to Los Angeles.

[55:19] AN IDEA COME TO LIFE

Andrew talks about the struggles of acting as well as his wife’s career and wanting to feel more fulfilled in what they did. Fast forward to a night at their local yoga studio, where the owners (who were also friends of theirs) mentioned expanding their business. Andrew suddenly came up with the idea for a Juice/Smoothie/Cafe portion to their expansion. One thing led to another and Andrew and his wife ended up making this idea come to life.

 [58:48] NEW OPPORTUNITIES

A while after the juice business was up, running, and operating at successful rates, Andrew got a call from Hallmark. They offered him a leading role and then continued to offer him roles after that. The support and flexibility from Hallmark allows him to spend time with his family and help his wife with the juice business.

[1:08:45] THE BUSINESS TODAY

Although the juice business experienced some rocky moments, Andrew and his wife were presented with opportunities from some backers that helped the business grow and thrive. After receiving an offer to sell the company, they decided to go ahead and do so. They still help behind the scenes and are happy to share that the company has doubled in size. To this day Andrew helps with the quality of ingredients and ensuring sustainability with farming. Andrew leaves us with the message to be grateful for things in your life, don’t be afraid of new opportunities, and be fearless in taking on new challenges.
