Getting Up Early Can Change Your Life

getting up early

This month I kicked off the #Fiveuary challenge—spurring on my friends and followers to get up every day in February at 5 a.m. Together we are getting after it and setting ourselves up for an amazing year.

So what’s so magical about getting up early, you might ask? So, so much! I’ve seen consistent early rising change my life…and so many others’. And here are just a few reasons why you should consider becoming an early riser, too.

  1. You’re literally adding a month of productive time to your year!
Let’s say you normally get up around 7 a.m. (that’s typical for many Americans). If you start getting up at 5 a.m. instead, you essentially gain two extra hours a day to focus on what matters. And by the end of the year, you could essentially stack up an entire month’s worth of time, just by consistently getting up early. That’s a whole month to make progress in areas that you care deeply about: your health, your family, your hobby, your income…whatever it might be! The potential for life change here is HUGE.
  2. Get some much-needed you time
Getting up early while the house is still and quiet always feels like a sacred space to me—especially when my girls were young. This can be the perfect time to go for a walk, light a candle, read an inspiring book, set some intentions, listen to an energizing podcast, experience gratitude, and put some meaningful self-care measures into practice.
  3. Exercising in the morning sets you up for success (physically and mentally).
I’m a HUGE proponent of working out first thing in the morning. Chances are you have a better reserve of energy then, and you’re less likely to come up with excuses. Also, you get to kick off your day feeling accomplished from the start and enjoying the effects of all the feel-good chemicals exercise unlocks in your body. Lastly, studies show that a morning exercise session improves cognitive function not only right afterward, but throughout the day. Amazing, right?!
  4. Start the day off ahead of the game, instead of feeling behind.
I’m all about being proactive and not reactive in life. When you get up early, you set the tone for your day (as opposed to waking up with a million demands already in your face). You gain the margin you need to get into the right mindset and plan your day the way you want to. Consider creating a morning routine that allows you to enter into your day feeling centered, focused, and ready to conquer the world your way.
  5. Boost your productivity.
Most of us have the highest clarity, peak decision-making skills, and best attention spans in the morning. As the day wears on, we all tend to wind down in these areas. Getting up early allows you to maximize productivity as you knock out your to-do list while you’re at your best.

So are you up for the #Fiveuary challenge with me? I think you might be shocked at how many benefits you experience just from waking up early consistently. And just imagine what you can accomplish this year with the extra time and all the benefits.

Lastly, I want to share another life-changing shift you could make this year. I’m launching a VIP online fitness group on February 24 called Palm Trees and Push-Ups, and I’d love for you to join us! You’ll get instant access to the fitness tools, tips, accountability, and community you need to thrive! All you have to do is message me and I’ll share everything you need to know.

Let’s make 2020 the year where everything changes for you!
