Your comfort zone. That warm, cozy place where you feel right at home. I can see why you like it there. It’s familiar, friendly, and doesn’t pose a threat.
Or at least it feels that way. But in reality, your comfort zone is a dangerous place. It blinds you to opportunities for a better life and keeps you stuck right where you are.
The world has more for you. You feel it, don’t you? Deep down, you know there’s more to this life. You have capabilities, dreams, and gifts that want so badly to come out and play. But your comfort zone beckons and fear raises its ugly head with all kinds of objections and lies like these:
- I’m a busy mom. I don’t have time to pursue my own passions and dreams right now.
- I don’t have anything to offer that hasn’t been done already.
- There’s not enough money for me to try anything new.
- Investing in myself would be selfish at this point in my life.
- I’ll probably fail anyway.
Can I call BS right now, girlfriend? You are wired for success—we all are. The universe wants nothing more than to see you get unstuck and create an incredible life for yourself and your family. But our fears and insecurities have a way of creating massive roadblocks in our mind. Here’s the thing though: those roadblocks are imaginary. That’s right, they’re all in your head. And if you recognize that, you can plow right on past them and design a life beyond what you ever dreamed or imagined.
“The only thing that’s keeping you from getting what you want is the story you keep telling yourself.” –Tony Robbins
Part of the problem is that our brains are wired for efficiency. That means we have a bunch of thinking and feeling shortcuts that we’ve unintentionally created over the years by habit. Our brain loves these shortcuts because they’re familiar paths that don’t require much energy to revisit. Thinking differently means taking a different road, which takes some time and attention to carve out. But this new path will take you to a far more exciting destination in the long run.
If you’re used to letting mental roadblocks about your finances, family, health, opportunities, skills, or dreams stop you from pursuing something new, then your brain is used to defaulting to this way of thinking and feeling. It’s a familiar road. But it’s time to take the road less traveled. The next time one of these roadblocks or limiting beliefs crops up in your mind, I want you to stop and recognize it. Call it out. Write it down. Do whatever it takes to get it out of your head. Then I want you to CHOOSE to think differently. Making transformational choices disrupts old patterns and starts to make your comfort zone feel a little less comfortable. Shifting your thinking clears the roadblocks and paves the way to growth, opportunity, and adventure.
I shudder to think where my family and I would be right now had I not made the transformational choice 11 years ago to become a fitness coach. Sure, I had limiting beliefs threatening to keep me stuck back then, but I made the CHOICE to step out in faith anyway. This shift impacted my family and myself in ways that I could never have dreamed. And I want the same for you, my friend.
Can I challenge you this week to step out of your comfort zone? To explore the possibility that life could be unbelievably amazing if you choose it?
I’m looking for women who want to carve out incredible lives for themselves and to inspire others to do the same through fitness. Becoming a coach on my team doesn’t require a certain background, financial situation, life stage, or skill level. It simply requires a hunger for a better life and an open mind to learn alongside a team of talented, supportive women. If this sounds like you, send me an email and let’s start the conversation now.
