I’m a year-round learner, but there’s something about fall that makes cracking a new book feel all the more fitting. Who says back-to-school time is just for kids?
Fall is a great time to learn something new, get inspired, and grow yourself. Maybe you have littles in school now, or maybe you’re like me, moving into the exciting, opportunity-rich empty nest phase. Either way, pouring into yourself is essential. It’s time to make time for you!
In honor of backpacks and school buses everywhere, I’m sharing some of my favorite books with you today. They’re full of wisdom, inspiration, and actionable strategies. I hope you love them as much as I do!
1. Girl Stop Apologizing: A Shame-free Plan for Embracing and Achieving Your Goals, by Rachel Hollis
In true funny, upbeat, authentic Rachel Hollis-style, this book tackles common lies we believe about ourselves and gives tactics for moving forward. Rachel challenges you to dream big and not let anything get in the way. This book has tons of inspiration and laughs, but also nitty-gritty advice for crushing obstacles and building a life you love.
From the book:
“You are allowed to want more for yourself for no other reason than because it makes your heart happy. You don’t need anyone’s permission, and you certainly shouldn’t have to rely on anyone’s support as the catalyst to get you there.”
2. Stories that Stick by Kindra Hall
This book gem is being released on September 24, but it’s totally worth the pre-order. Nationally-known speaker and storyteller Kindra Hall guides us through the four kinds of stories we can use to inspire, elevate, and motivate others. Backed by research and data, these storytelling techniques are powerful tools that anyone can learn and put to great use to change lives.
Praise from Mel Robbins, renowned author and motivational speaker:
“In Stories That Stick, Kindra Hall beautifully weaves the argument for story with the best way to craft one. Advice every business owner and influencer needs to understand.”
3. Find Your Extraordinary by Jessica Herrin
Stella & Dot CEO Jessica Herrin brings her incredible wisdom, business expertise, and personal experience to the table in this transformative book. She gives practical guidance for achieving incredible success on our own terms. Written for stay-at-home moms, corporate execs, entrepreneurs, and everyone in between, this book can help you take your life from ordinary to extraordinary—no matter what that looks like for you.
Praise from Leslie Blodgett, creator and founder, bareMinerals:
“Enough waiting around for the good things to happen to you. Finally, an inspiring book that shows us all that it is achievable to be happy on our own terms and reach our fullest potential.”
4. Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear
An instant New York Times best-seller, this book shares doable strategies for building healthy, life-changing habits and crushing ones that don’t serve you well. Drawing from established research in psychology, biology, and neuroscience, James Clear brings us everything we need to conquer new heights and take our lives to the next level. While rooted in research, the book also weaves in inspiring true tales of leaders, Olympic athletes, physicians, and comedians who have done habit work to achieve remarkable feats.
From the book:
“All big things come from small beginnings. The seed of every habit is a single, tiny decision. But as that decision is repeated, a habit sprouts and grows stronger. Roots entrench themselves and branches grow. The task of breaking a bad habit is like uprooting a powerful oak within us. And the task of building a good habit is like cultivating a delicate flower one day at a time.”
