This is the year, right? The year that you finally make the change, start something new, and stick to it.

When a new year rolls around, it comes with all kinds of good intentions, promises, and declarations. And while it’s great to have a season of self-reflection and goal-setting, how do you make the motivation last more than a few months (or, let’s be honest, a few weeks)?

I believe that motivation and success depend on what we choose to take in—to both our minds and our bodies. We make (usually mindless) choices every day about what we put into our bodies, who we interact with, and what we watch on our screens and listen to in our earbuds. These choices set the stage for our daily decisions, habits, and ultimately the growth (or frustrations) we experience.

Either you consume things that help you reach your goals or you don’t, it’s as simple as that.

For me, intentionally consuming the right media can make or break my days. When it comes to what I listen to, I make it a point to be encouraged and challenged each week with podcasts that spur me on and tool me up. Today I want to share my list of go-to podcasts that can provide a jolt of motivation and inspiration when you need it most.

  1. RISE with Rachel Hollis
    Rachel is a #1 New York Times & USA Today bestselling author who is all about personal growth and inspiring women to step out of fear to reach their goals. RISE takes on real conversations with business leaders from a variety of industries, and you’ll walk away with tangible ideas and a healthy dose of encouragement.
  2. EntreLeadership by Ramsey Solutions
    Get business tips and leadership ideas from top dogs like Dave Ramsey, Mark Cuban, Jim Collins, and Seth Godin to challenge your perspective and give you thoughtful and compelling ideas to chew on during the week.
  3. Christy Wright’s Business Boutique
    Christy is an author and business coach who runs Business Boutique, an online resource to help women start and grow businesses. She shares useful business and everyday life tips, resources, tried-and-true advice, and inspiring success stories.
  4. Building a StoryBrand with Donald Miller
    Want to get people talking about your message? You’ve come to the right podcast. Donald Miller is chock full of practical advice about how to simplify what you’re saying in order to get people’s full attention.
  5. That Sounds Fun with Annie F. Downs
    Annie is an author, nationally-known speaker, and the down-to-earth best friend you didn’t know you were missing. Twice a week, Annie shares advice, stories, and, you guessed it, whatever sounds fun. Grab a cup of coffee and listen in on conversations with guests from all walks of life.

Getting inspired and energized doesn’t have to take all day. Just start by setting aside 30 minutes while you’re cooking, driving, walking, or winding down, and take in some uplifting motivation like a great book, music, or one of the podcasts above. Your mind and attitude will thank you!
